A Tradition in Craftsmanship

Our students come from all corners of the United Kingdom, as well as from Europe and further afield. This makes the Newark School of Musical Instrument Making a truly international environment.

Guitar making students mix with violin, woodwind and piano students, who all share student accommodation and workshops.

Students work hard to produce the very best quality guitars that they are capable of - some start selling instruments while still on the course; others begin earning money by carrying out repairs. Setting up as a self-employed musical instrument maker is an ambitious and demanding choice of career, where very high standards are expected by musicians who will be our customers. The course aims to instill the highest standards of craftsmanship in the women and men who train with us.

Visit our Alumni page to see how some of our ex-students have progressed with their careers.
