Exhibition and Concert Next Event: Saturday 21 June 2008 The annual Diploma Show Exhibition and Concert is held near the end of June each year. You are warmly invited to come along and see the instruments that have been made, and then to listen to professional musicians playing some of the best guitars in our evening concert. The Guitars are exhibited in the Methodist Church, Barnby Gate, Newark, from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The Concert is also held in the Methodist Church, and begins at 6.30 p.m. Entry is free to both events. Before the concert begins, Diplomas are presented to students who have successfully completed the course, and two special prizes are awarded: The Ashley Mark Classical Guitar Magazine Prize for the Most Outstanding Student (a cheque for £200.00) and the Hiscox Prize for Creativity and Progress (a Deluxe Hiscox Guitar Case). We are very grateful to these two companies for their annual sponsorship. |

| The internationally
renowned classical guitarist Mark Ashford, is currently our visiting musician, and he
attends the Exhibition and Concert. During the day he talks to the students and tries out
their instruments, providing useful feedback and advice to them. Mark then gives a recital
at the evening Concert, at which he plays short pieces on a range of the best student
guitars. (The same Concert also includes a visiting string quartet playing violins, violas and cellos made by graduating students from the Violin Course, and their instruments are exhibited during the day in the Violin School, Kirkgate, Newark.) |
