The Guitarmaking Course

This excellent two-year course attracts attracts students from all over the world, and teaches the traditional craft of making Spanish Classical Guitars - closely following the established methods of construction with hand tools. The course is very much focused on practical skills in the well-equipped workshops and includes instruction in basic woodworking skills, selecting and preparing materials and making all the component parts for the guitar.

The School's position as the leader in Classical Guitar Making tuition has been further confirmed by the development of new qualifications, which are recognized across Europe. All the lecturers are professional makers, and the school has close links with leading classical guitarists  in Britain, who regularly visit and contribute to the course by means of workshops and discussions, as well as providing students with valuable feedback and comments about their work.

The course content includes:

Guitarmaking: completion of at least three guitars: both Classical and Flamenco

Woodwork for Instrument Makers

History of the Guitar

Acoustics

Materials

Successful completion of the course leads to two qualifications:

1.  ASET Certificate in Guitar Making

2.  Diploma from the International School of Musical Instrument Making
