Hiscox Cello Cases are made from a high impact ABS plastic outer shell, bonded to an inner moulding made from a unique blend of cellular foam - the Hiscox cello case has outstanding structural rigidity and will resist distortion even with the weight of a 180 pound man standing on the back! A custom designed aluminum valance extends deep into the base and lid. All the catches, hinges, "D" rings and the main handle are riveted through the plastic outer shell and into this valance, adding to the strength and longevity. The shoulder handle and feet are riveted into large aluminum back-plates. The back fits accurately to the lid. The inner moulding is soft enough to cushion the most delicate instrument, yet firm enough to provide structural rigidity. The case structure has been designed to provide high shock absorption, and the insulation properties of the inner moulding help protect the cello from extreme temperature changes.
